Spray away for cancer awareness

CRAIGAVON - The pupils of Crawford Preparatory Fourways found out that it's never to early to start being aware of cancer.

Last year, Sandton-based talent agent Addi Lang introduced her campaign Forever Changed to the public.

At the same time, Lang also shared the story of her struggle with cancer, her distrust with the medical profession after being misdiagnosed and not finding out she had cancer until she was already in a late stage, and her eventual resolve to fight the disease with everything she had.

Lang calls her supporters and ambassadors ‘warriors’ because she believes they have the strength and courage to also fight against cancer.

One of Lang’s ‘warriors’ is 14-year-old singing sensation Shae Webb who recorded the song Wind Beneath my Wings for Lang as well as her late grandmother, who passed away from colon cancer.

Webb, Lang and singer, Melissa Moodley visited Crawford Fourways to spread their message of love and understanding for cancer patients prior to the school’s Cansa sprayathon.

To show his support, the school’s principal Ian Rothman allowed pupils to spray his hair with all the colours they had at hand. Lang also sprayed her hair to show pupils that while the sprayathon would certainly be a huge amount of fun, it would also be in aid of a very good cause.
