‘Mystery Box’ on highways revealed

JOBURG - Gautengers travelling along major highways, particularly on the R21, have whipped up a twitter frenzy by speculating over the contents of a large container marked #secretstash.

The container was suspended in the air with a large crane for several weeks, prompting Jacaranda FM personality Mal-Jan to clamber on top of the crate to investigate.

However, curiosity was soon slated when it was revealed that the box contained a brand new car (and a few mystery prizes) that would be given out to a lucky winner at Jacaranda Day 2015. The prize was sponsored by leading classified site, Gumtree.

“We thought it would be great to generate a little intrigue,” said Claire Cobbledick, head of marketing for Gumtree SA. “And judging by social media, it certainly did!”

The grand prize will be awarded to a random winner. “All you have to do to enter is post a free ad with the hashtag #secretstash in the title before the 15 May,” said Cobbledick. “The winner will be announced and will have to collect their prize at Jacaranda Day on the 23 May.”

Cobbledick said entries are already flooding in, with hopefuls rummaging through their cupboards to sell unwanted goods ranging from sporting and baby goods to big ticket items such as cars and luxury watches.

“The item you are selling doesn’t affect your entry at all, so feel free to list whatever you like. And of course, whatever money you make from the sale is yours as an added bonus!”
