Bieber’s roast disappoints the Hyde Park crowd

JOBURG - The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber was aired last week, with a crowd of South Africa's most-loved public personalities attending the exclusive preview in Hyde Park.

All That Matters is the Biebs, and his roast was a highly-anticipated event on the calendar of all comedians, Beliebers, and the not-so supportive public.

The event showcased all things Bieber, with a section of the venue dedicated to attendees taking part in Bieber-related activities which made reference to the controversial activities he’s been involved in of late.

There was a booth to take mugshots – much like his famous mugshot after being bust driving under the influence of alcohol.

Guests took full advantage of the Instagram frame in which they could take their #BieberRoast pictures.

A highlight of the night was the performance before the roast, where an acapella choir sang six Justin Beiber tunes.

The roast itself was quite underwhelming, where many of the attendees seemed visibly disappointed.

“They roasted the panel of roasters more than they actually roasted Bieber himself,” said Zomato’s public relations manager, Lesego Puso.

Overall, the pre-screening of the roast was an enjoyable event with some people attaining their first, and hopefully last, (unnofficial) mugshot.
