UPDATE: WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Body found hanging in tree off Corlett Drive

SANDTON - A body was found hanging from a tree just off Corlett Drive near the M1 highway interchange on 13 March.

Update, 13 March 13.50pm:

The grisly scene of a man found hanging from a tree in Birnam has left residents reeling.

The man, aged 52, was found earlier this morning and according to Bramley police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, “At around 8am, a passerby saw the body of a man hanging from a tree and proceeded to alert the police of this shocking discovery.”

He added that when the police arrived, they alerted the Emergency Management Services (EMS) of the situation and when the emergency services arrived, they certified the man dead on the scene. The police confirmed that an inquest was opened and they were are still investigating. The case continues.

Update, 13 March 12.50pm:

It has been confirmed that Johannesburg Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene in a park just off Corlett Drive where an unidentified man was found hanging from a tree.

Spokesperson for Johannesburg EMS Robert Mulaudzi said that the man was pronounced dead when they arrived at the scene. He added that it was unclear if it was a suicide.

Mulaudzi said the body was handed over to the police for further investigation.

SANDTON – A body was found hanging from a tree just off Corlett Drive near the M1 highway interchange on 13 March.
