Sponsoring the future leaders

SANDTON - Sandton Convention Centre will be buzzing with some of the biggest names in business at the Student Sponsorship Programme’s 15th Anniversary Fundraising Gala on 5 March.

South Africa’s top business leaders will be gathered to contribute to the development of South Africa’s future leaders through academic excellence.

The programme was established in 2000 with the objective to identify academically distinguished but financially disadvantaged scholars, and enable them to excel at South Africa’s top high schools through financial support.

Spokesperson for the programme Candice Jansen said, “In addition to celebrating the success of the 15 years that the programme has been developing leaders for South Africa through academic excellence, 57 new scholars are entering the programme this year, and we are hosting an exciting, grand gala evening to raise sufficient funding to develop 200 South Africa’s future leaders over the next five years.”

The gala promises to be a be an event to remember where guests will be treated to an exclusive evening of entertainment, including the satirist Conrad Koch with Chester Missing, exciting prize draws and an opportunity to rub shoulders and network with some of South Africa’s top business leaders.

Four contributors to the programme will be awarded at the gala. The Trailblazer Award will go to joint CEO of Standard Bank South Africa, Sim Tshabalala, and the Innovation Award will be handed to CEO of Women Investment Portfolio Holdings, Louisa Mojela. The Visionary Award and Alum Achiever Award will go to Prof. Nick Binedell, dean at the Gordon Institute for Business Science, and the programme’s alumni Tshepang Mogotsi respectively.
