Networking session unites architecture industry

SANDTON - Aimed at assisting French companies succeed in South Africa, the French Trade Commission recently hosted a networking session to forge a relationship between the architecture industry and stretch ceiling company Barrisol.

The formal session took place at Hyde Park Corner on 26 November and saw the architecture industry exposed to the work done by Barrisol.

Eve Konan, junior trade advisor at the French Trade Commission, explained the commission’s involvement in hosting the networking session.

“The work of the commission is focused on assisting companies to grow in African states, and all over the world, and the session was a chance to promote the work done by Barrisol to the South African market,” she said.

“The trade commission does this because we believe countries such as South Africa are a viable market with a bright future,” she said.

She added that by hosting this event with Barrisol, it would expose the business to potentially new partners in the architecture and interior design market.

The trade commission has assisted over 3 000 companies throughout Africa and assists companies in various sectors such as fashion, health and mining.

Also present at the networking session was Roger Bax de Keating, the sole distributor for Barrisol in South Africa, who explained the reason the company hosted the session.

“Inviting members from the industry was an opportunity to bring the industry together to share ideas in a casual setting,” he said.

Barrisol is a French company focused on manufacturing stretch ceilings and was brought to South Africa eight years ago.
