High-tech security system for residents

ILLOVO - The Atholl, Inanda, Illovo, Winston Ridge and Elton Hill (AIIWE) Residents Association and security company, CSS Tactical, have partnered to install a high-tech fibre optic security system in the area.

The installation will mean that residents will not only have access to faster internet connectivity, but with the technology being linked up to a fibre optic security system, the residents will also enjoy 125 overview cameras and nine automatic number plate recognition cameras.

“We’ve noticed that the installation of cameras significantly reduces crime by as much as 92 percent in residential areas,” said Ricky Croock of CSS Tactical.

The i-Sentry artificial intelligence software uses a smart-analysis system that learns routine, then detects and alerts unusual behaviour to the operators in the control room.

The first phase of laying cables and installing cameras is expected to be completed by December this year.

The second phase will be rolled out early next year and will involve connecting the residents to the system and extending the fibre optic network into their homes. This will give residents internet access and access to the street cameras in their immediate vicinity.
