Redhill pupils in groundbreaking IT project

SANDTON - Using technology to break conventional education methods, Redhill Preparatory pupils took part in a collaborative IT project together with pupils of Dainfern College.

According to Nirvana Rogers, marketing officer at Redhill, the project involved Grade 7 pupils engaging in discussions using online communication tools.

“Pupils from both schools were placed in groups and held discussions on various topics using popular social media networks such as Skype and Google chat,” she said.

Additionally, pupils had an opportunity to discuss relevant issues including that of renewable and non-renewal energy in the country, a topic that generated much debate, Rogers said.

“The pupils had a lot of fun completing the task and really understood what the concept of bringing the walls of the classroom down meant. “Through the use of technology, a lot more is possible’,” she concluded.
