Man arrested for stolen truck

MARLBORO - A man was arrested in Marlboro after he was found in possession of a suspected stolen truck on 9 September.

Spokesperson for Bramley police, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, said the arresting officer was told by his superior that there was a truck, suspected of being stolen, transporting cement brick in the Alexandra area.

According to Maphakela, the truck was parked at a Total garage on Pretoria Main Road and the officer questioned the driver on who owned the truck. The driver claimed the truck belonged to someone else.

The officer then discovered that the chassis number matched with a different registration plate number, not belonging to the truck, indicating that the registration plate on the truck was indeed a fake.

The suspect was arrested and charged with being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and was detained at the Bramley Police Station.
