Couple attacked by a gang of robbers

STRATHAVON - A man and his wife were attacked and robbed by a gang of five robbers inside their home in Strathavon.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said one of the suspects, a 33-year-old man, was arrested and found in possession of an iPhone which belonged to the wife.

Maphakela said the suspects also stole a BMW key, a wristwatch and various jewellery.

He said the couple were sitting in their living room when the man’s wife went to make tea in the kitchen. “The man heard his wife scream and he rushed to the kitchen,” explained Maphakela.

“Two of the suspects jumped on him and wrestled him to the ground. One of the suspects started smacking him with an open hand on his face and another one pointed a firearm at him.”

He said the total cost of everything stolen was estimated at R100 000.

“The police are looking for four suspects who are on the run,” said Maphakela.
