Supporting the Sandton Library

SANDTON - Keith Elliot from Friends of the Sandton Library said the library needed all hands on deck to keep it running.

He said the organisation had been formed to generate funds from the community to keep the library functional.

“We’re trying to do as much as we can for our library but we need help from the community,” added Elliot.

He said once a month the library hosts a fundraising event by selling books. “The proceeds go towards the benefit of the library,” he explained.

He also said the library donates books to disadvantaged communities such as various schools in Alexandra.

Elliot also said the organisation was trying to furnish the library space with plants and continue to sponsor a chess club that takes place at the library every Saturday.

“We appreciate all the efforts that have been made towards the library and we encourage more community members to get involved,” said Elliot.

Anyone who has books to donate, can contact Elliot.
