Varsity College Sandton pampers little girls

SANDTON - Varsity College Sandton treated 12 girls to a once in lifetime opportunity to spend an afternoon with Miss South Africa 2014, Rolene Strauss.

The girls aged between six and 14 of Afrika Tikkun took part in an annual Princess for a Day event hosted by Varsity College Sandton.

Afrika Tikkun is an outreach programme based in Alexandra that looks after orphaned and vulnerable children in the community.

“We wanted to show the girls that they are special and created for a purpose,” said Varsity College Sandton student relations manager Vasanthee Govender. “The day was really aimed at pampering and spoiling these beautiful and wonderfully talented girls. We hope that Miss South Africa inspired them and that they will know that they can be whatever they dream of.”

Sindiswa Kubeka, on behalf of Varsity College Sandton said the girls enjoyed the unforgettable experience of being pampered by Miss South Africa and Varsity College’s student volunteer body, VC Cares. “This included receiving a mini-facial and manicure,” she added.

Kubeka said Strauss also gave the girls a lesson on how to act like a princess, where she taught them how to walk and feel confident like princesses. “She also honoured each girl with a glittering princess wand,” added Kubeka.

She said the little princesses of the day enjoyed a high tea luncheon before participating in all the fun activities that included bead making and cup cake decorating.

“The event ended with each little princess receiving a packed goodie bag from Varsity College,” said Kubeka.
