Crime wave hits Sandton

SANDTON - The suburbs of Buccleuch and Parkmore saw a range of crimes take place this past month.

In one incident which took place in Buccleuch, a domestic worker was left traumatised after suspects tied her up and then plundered the house. According to Kym Cloete, spokesperson for Sandton police, the incident took place at approximately 10am.

“The complainant was busy inside the house when she spotted one of the suspects through a window,” she said.

The suspect was outside but managed to gain entry into the house at the same time as the employer’s child, who had been playing outside.

Cloete explained that the suspect proceeded to tie the woman up before two other men joined in and proceeded to steal electronic equipment before fleeing.

Cloete confirmed that investigations were still underway.

Meanwhile, in Parkmore, a woman was tragically murdered. According to Cloete, the incident was witnessed by the gardener, who arrived at the house in Parkmore to perform his duties.

“The complainant asked to be let in by the domestic worker, but instead an unknown male opened for him, who was then joined by another male,” she said.

The complainant was then taken to the domestic worker’s room where he found her lying on the ground bleeding with a knife next to her. Cloete explained that the two suspects then tied up the complainant before fleeing the scene.

Cloete confirmed that the domestic worker was confirmed dead by the paramedics.

No items were stolen from the property. Investigations continue.
