Four suspects arrested on 15 July in Sandton may be linked to other cases.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini from the office of the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service, said he couldn’t confirm whether the four had any connection to the murder of an Illovo man earlier this week, however an investigation was underway.
Dlamini said three of the suspects were previously arrested for serious and violent crimes, and they were out on bail for cases of armed robbery, house robbery, hijackings and possession of unlicensed firearms when they were arrested in Sandton.
The suspects were arrested after a high-speed chase that started at the N1 North Rivonia off-ramp and ended near Greenstone shopping centre
“One of the three suspects was sentenced to 45 years’ imprisonment after being convicted of a house robbery in Bramley,” added Dlamini. He is reportedly out on bail while he awaits his appeal.
He said the fourth suspect was being profiled, and it is suspected that he was part of a notorious gang operating in Sandton.
The suspects will appear at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court soon. However, Dlamini said the police intended to oppose bail as the suspects were already out on bail for serious crimes, and may still be linked to other cases.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police said there were no new developments in finding the two suspects who allegedly shot the man in his garage.
Cloete said two suspects fired a number of shots at the 35-year-old man. “He fell down and passed away at the scene,” said Cloete.
She said the suspects fled without taking anything, and that no arrests had been made.
The investigation continues.
Condolences pour in for murdered Inanda man: 15 July 11am
Following the publishing of the story on 14 July, the public have reacted to the incident on social media and the Sandton Chronicle website page.
Monica wrote: “These senseless acts of violence are just unacceptable! Our Saps and government should be ashamed that stories like this even occur! Something needs to be done now, as awareness protests and half-effort policing is not going to turn this disease around! Gone way too soon and so unnecessarily, you will be sorely missed!”
David Sanei, who claimed he knew the deceased through a mutual friend, said the man’s wife was “going through hell”.
He added, “He was such a nice guy. Although we never went to school together we had a similar group of friends. Whenever I saw him he would come and greet. We have lost another brother to senseless violence. When will it end? If you want a car, go and work and buy one. Rest in peace my brother, gone but never forgotten. Till we meet again.”
Fran Du Plessis wrote on the Sandton Chronicle’s Facebook page, “We came back from holiday yesterday late afternoon and boarded the Gautrain, and the deceased’s father was sitting next to us when he got a call about his son, and he broke down and cried hysterically and what we could hear from his conversation was that his son was murdered in Inanda, and that he wanted to know what happened and if he was really gone! Felt so so sorry for him, my fiancé and I both had tears in our eyes witnessing this poor man crying about his lost son! Thoughts are with his loved ones! RIP.”

Man murdered in front of wife in Inanda (14 July, 3:45pm)
Sandton police spokesperson, Captain Kym Cloete said two suspects fired a number of shots at the 35-year-old man. “He fell down and passed away at the scene,” said Cloete.
She said the man’s 38-year-old wife had arrived at the couple’s place of residence at 5pm on 6th Avenue. “The two suspects banged on her car window,” said Cloete.
“The woman tried to reverse and pressed her car hooter. She drove into the garage of her home and the suspects followed.”
Cloete said when the suspects saw the woman’s husband they opened fire on him.
She said the suspects fled without taking anything.
No arrests have been made.
My heartfelt condolences go out to everyone who knew Dean. He was a good man. He would always greet and always support us at the show’s. We have lost another brother to senseless violence.. When will it end? If you want a car, go and work and buy one.

Shocking,appalling, sad and unnecessary. Why? Why rob a precious life and ruin another (and many other too) forever and for what? A car? Money? O wait. They didn’t even offer an explanation. They just came, killed and destroyed then ran away as fast as their coward legs would carry them. How will his wife ever find peace? How do you witness the love of your life, your best friend, your everything taken from you like that and survive? These men have no conscience, no soul and no place among us. Why does this keep happening to innocent people in South Africa? Why is our country becoming hell on earth while our government does nothing? Must we forever live in fear of the day it will be our turn? Because it has become that bad now. It’s no longer a matter of “if” but “when”!!!
Devastation to so many people. An innocent loving man taken away senselessly from his wife and family. So many peoples lives changed. We live in a Country where our police are more corrupt than our government. How do we expect them to stop these barbaric thieves and murderers. Nobody should ever have to go through the pain of having a partner die in your arms, from a pointless, unecessary murder.

The obvious question is what men with arrests for serious and violent crimes are doing out on bail???? One of them being out on appeal for a 45 year sentence for house robbery. How on earth did the court conclude that these men were not a danger to society? My condolences to the to the family. RIP
How can theu oppose bail if they have broken their bail condition? Surely theu have now lost their right to bail… how did theu get bail for those serious crimes anyway… this country is now way past its expiry date…
Arm yourself, and when confronted simply kill before you or your family are killed, or your wife/daughters raped.
In my opinion: Shoot for the head. Then fire warning shot into ground to satisfy absurd “laws” which these animals don’t respect anyway.
