The 11 Knitters have made 27 blankets to prepare for Nelson Mandela Day

The blankets knitted by 11 Knitters and Knitters Club are being gifted to people in need.

Sandton-based Knitting Club, the 11 Knitters of The Guild Retirement Village, have knitted their way to a total of 27 blankets for Mandela Day.

According to Rose Johnson, the club started remotely in 2020, during Covid-19.

“We have been running this for three years now. Our purpose is to assist people who stay at orphanages, less fortunate people, and those living on the streets by supplying them with blankets in these cold winter seasons,” said Sandra White of 11 Knitters Club.

“These warm and cheerful blankets will keep 27 needy people warm with the cold nights upon us. They were knitted with love and caring for those who need them most,” said Johnson.

Their next project is to knit all things needed for premature babies, vests, bikinis, and jerseys, to keep these fragile little bodies warm.
