St Stithians College hosts another successful sports festival

The annual Saints Sports Festival is a much-loved and highly anticipated event on the St Stithians College calendar and this year it did not disappoint.

The 2023 edition ran over two consecutive weekends. It began with the prep festival which ran from March 30 to April 1. The college festival ran over the Easter weekend on April 5, 6, 8 and 10.

In the epic prep festival, there were more than 1 000 participants, made up of 103 teams from over 60 schools. The college festival had over 1100 participants made up of 88 teams and representing 87 schools.

The prep festival schools competed in rugby, squash, tennis and netball and welcomed the Grade 2 children from junior prep and they played inter-house hockey. The colleges played football, hockey, netball, rugby, squash and tennis with a fun run.

The Alumni Games has become a firm favourite at the festival since being launched in 2016. They add a wonderful opportunity for the Old Stithians to step back onto the fields where they once represented Saints and again represent their school with pride.

“The Alumni Games this year was a massive success – tennis was first up and served up an awesome display. Games then took place in both the men’s and women’s hockey, netball, rugby, football and squash – thank you to our alumni for joining us back on campus and for some entertaining displays of sport,” said the school’s communications manager Annie Fyfe-Hitchings.

The festival was jam-packed and offered something for everyone to enjoy.

“Our behind-the-scenes teams work tirelessly to make the festival the legendary event that it has become. We express our profound gratitude to our staff. Finally, we extend our gratitude to our sponsors, who have been part of this for many years.”
