Diepsloot Primary School receives gifts from the Khumo project

Student wellness manager of IIE Varsity College Sandton and Khumo project custodian, Sibahle Mnisi, states that their donation at Diepsloot Primary School was a success.

Members of the Khumo project which was established by the IIE Varsity College Sandton campus and IIE MSA, successfully distributed educational materials to the Grade 1 learners of Diepsloot Primary School.

The initiative is set to partner with a primary school for a duration of two years. It was initially created to assist teachers with educational skills and the provision of resources. Recently the Khumo team visited the school to donate stationery including more than 80 books for each classroom.

According to the events coordinator of Varsity College, Anto Kagisho, the donations were made possible through a staff Valentine’s Day raffle which accumulated R1 700.

“This Khumo fundraiser was so beneficial, especially in terms of seeing the excited Grade 1 learners when we handed them their books. This showed how eager they are to read. I believe that when we invest in schools and children, we invest in the future,” said the student wellness manager of IIE Varsity College, Sibahle Mnisi.
