JRA tackles Bryanston bridges ahead of rainy season

In order to mitigate the risk of flooding, the JRA recently conducted maintenance on the low-lying Bryanston Drive and Belgrave Street bridges in Bryanston.

As the summer rainy season nears, the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has taken active steps to curb the flood of low-lying bridges in Bryanston.

Under its A Re Sebetseng initiative, the JRA recently carried out maintenance on the Bryanston Drive and Belgrave Street bridges.

The entity was able to clear vast amounts of rubble, debris and stumps from the previous rainy season from the underpass with the help of a crane. A large tree that had fallen over and lodged itself under the Bryanston Drive bridge was also removed.

Ward 103 councillor Lynda Shackleford applauded the JRA for its proactive efforts as low-lying bridges are prone to easy flooding during summer.

Belgrave Street bridge is notorious for flooding each year making it extremely dangerous and most times impossible to cross.
