Sandton student shares her wig making skill with the community

Local student Bongobuhle Peter continues to drive for success as she studies towards obtaining her degree in corporate communication all while running a wig making business.

Local student Bongobuhle Peter continues to drive for success in both her studies and small business.

The 22-year-old, who is currently a corporate communications student at the IIE’s Varsity College Sandton campus in Benmore, runs her own wig business Ms Divergent where she makes and sells wigs.

Wig making is a great skill and a respected art that is in extremely high demand.

“The idea for me to start my own wig business came from being at home during the pandemic. [I] decided to use my talents to make a living and start my savings.”

Fast forward two years, the talented student and small business owner has created dozens of wigs leaving customers feeling happy and confident.

Peter added that while studying for her degree and managing a business can be challenging, especially because she is determined to be successful in both aspects, it has been a rewarding journey.

Twenty-two year old Bongobuhle Peter juggles her life as a student and small business owner.

“The most rewarding thing about starting my small business has been the connection I’ve made with people and how I make them feel with my services.”
