Friendly competition unites Crawford Sandton
The staff at Crawford International Sandton traded formal outfits in for a pair of soccer boots as they went head-to-head in a friendly competition.
The staff at the Crawford International Sandton recently went head-to-head in a friendly soccer match on campus.
According to facilities coordinator Tumelo Lebea, the idea to reignite the friendly match came about when he started working at the college last year.
“I approached Juan Coetzer who is the facilities coordinator for the prep school with the idea and we were able to arrange the match as soon as we got approval from both of the principals at the college and prep.”
The match was a great success with all of the staff excited to participate. In the end the preparatory school took the win with a score of 5–3.
Lebea shares a special thanks to the key role players that helped to ensure that the match went ahead.
In addition to Coetzer, the group also had assistance from Samson Chauke (prep school sports coordinator) and Valentine Kaguda, teacher at the college and soccer coach for the college’s first team.
College sports director Charles Smith provided the college team with their black soccer kit and Nosipho Maseko took amazing pictures of the game.
“Moving forward we are hoping to play at least one match a term against each other and maybe also form a campus team to challenge other Crawford’s such as Lonehill or Pretoria,” said Lelea.
