Brescia keeps up their commitment for Mandela Day

The Brescia House School community put their unique skills to the test for Mandela Day, creating a variety of handmade items and toys to donate to the community and early childhood development centres.

The learners at Brescia House School once again encouraged the community to support its 67 minutes for Mandela Day campaign on July 18.

Using their unique skills and talents, the learners created a variety of handmade items ranging from knitted and crocheted toys, blankets, beanies and jerseys, to unique one-of-a-kind children’s story books and other educational items for early childhood development centres.

“Learners, staff, alumnae, parents and extended family members all joined in the spirit of the event, helping to create a few yarn-bombed ‘cameos’ to add to the fun of the day,” said the school’s head of marketing and admissions, Helga Bishop.

The school’s Gift of Love and Time tree, which is normally on display at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital during December each year, also took centre stage on the day.
