Sandton Police Station adds safety with their school visits in the National Child Protection Week

Sandton Police Station Commander Brigadier Egen Moodley continues to build a relationship of trust with learners during the National Child Protection Week.

As the annual awareness campaign, National Child Protection Week, commenced on May 29, police officials from different stations in South Africa took the time to educate learners on their rights during school visits.

Members of the Sandton Police Station made their first visit of the campaign to Sandown High School on June 3. Police officials and representatives from the Sandton Child Protection Hotline discussed various helping tools for daily challenges that teenagers face.

The organisation deals with the protection rights of children and discussed serious issues of bullying followed by child trafficking and substance abuse with Grade 8 and 9 learners.

“It is important for learners to be aware of their constitutional rights and their rights as children. It is important for learners to meet and engage with the local police officials to build a relationship of trust,” said Sandton Police Station Commander Brigadier Egen Moodley.

Members of the public are encouraged to use the hotline when needed. You can reach the child protection hotline on 079 687 3537 and the Sandton Police Station on 011 722 4272.
