Sandton City road blocked off by emergency services
Part of Alice Lane in Sandton Central has been brought to a standstill by emergency services responding to a call of an individual standing on the rooftop of a parking structure.
Update 16:30:
Sandton City confirmed at 16:00 that the distressed individual has left the rooftop and has been safely escorted into the care of their family.

Part of Alice Lane in Sandton Central has been blocked off to traffic on June 3 following social media reports of an individual standing on the rooftop parking structure of Sandton City.
As of 15:00, Sandton City confirmed in a tweet, “Sandton City is aware of a distressed individual threatening to jump from the building on Friday, 3 June at approximately 09:45. Emergency services have responded to the scene, and the individual is still stationed on the rooftop at 14:50.”

According to reports, the individual has been there since 07:00 this morning but their intentions have not yet been confirmed.
In a response to social media comments, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group has confirmed that it is aware of the situation.
“We have activated all necessary emergency response teams and [we are working] with the team on site.”
A Sandton Chronicle journalist has confirmed that emergency services and law enforcement are on the scene.
