Women’s senior bowls kicks off at Morningside

The women look forward to playing the remaining nine games that form part of this year’s tournament.

This year’s Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) Ladies Senior tournament kicked off at Morningside Country Club on May 4.

Twenty teams from across the JBA district came together to celebrate this year’s motto of friendship and competition.

According to JBA senior chairperson Jacqueline Lauder, it was a joy to once again see the women come together.

“We do truly make new friends as there are teams playing from throughout the JBA region. During the harsh days of the first Covid-19 lockdown, we kept in close contact through our Ladies Members WhatsApp Group where we shared not only the various ups and downs of our day-to-day lives but also stimulated each other with quizzes.”

Lauder added that one of the highlights of this year’s tournament was the influx of new members.

“Our motto of friendship and competition is so important to us especially when so many of our members have been savaged by the Covid-19 epidemic.
