Bryanston High School learner hits the right notes

It takes a lot of time to master any instrument especially when it comes to the piano.
One individual has been mastering it for a number of years with ease and swagger, and one would not even think that she is still a high school learner.
Ntando Ncube, a bright Bryanston High School learner and Morningside resident started playing the piano after an unfortunate event occurred that figuratively and literately crushed her dreams.

“Most of my friends played an instrument when I was growing up and I thought that was very cool. From the start, I knew that the piano was an amazing instrument that I wanted to venture in but I started with the violin. One day, I left my instrument on the floor not knowing that anything would happen and my older sister accidentally stepped on it which crushed my instrument and dreams. I stopped pursuing music for a bit because I was really hurt,” said the learner.

As Ncube mourned her dreams and violin, a sign that urged her to continue with her passion came in the form of her father’s gift to her mother which was a keyboard. According to Ncube, touching the keys for the first time reignited her love for music. At the age of nine, she followed her passion and has never regretted the decision.

“My family has always been music-oriented. My mother has a voice of an angel and my father is a genius when it comes to writing lyrics. I get a lot of love and support from them and my three siblings so it’s easy for me to express myself musically.”

Despite being able to read music at a Grade 6 level, Ncube prefers to play the piano through interpretation and emotions. Her plans for the future are to attain a tertiary degree and expand her musical horizons.
