Celebrate art with the Rotary Club of Sandton

SANDTON – The art exhibition will feature over 20 local artists and festivalgoers will also be treated to performances by this year’s Sandton Rotary Club Poetry Competition winners.

The Rotary Club of Sandton is set to host its long-awaited Yards of Art festival on the weekend of November 12.

The art exhibition is aimed at not only raising funds but also benefitting the community.

According to Sandton Rotarian and programme manager Val Thompson, Yards of Art is aimed at rebuilding and assisting arts to reconnect with the fellow art lovers and sell their artwork.

“For more than 110 years, Rotarians have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects.

“From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our communities in a sustainable way.”

The art exhibition will feature over 20 local artists and festivalgoers will also be treated to performances by this year’s Sandton Rotary Club Poetry Competition winners.

Attendees will also have a chance to test their talent by participating in a still life drawing.

“Festival organisers have produced unique deck chair frames, specially made from rosewood.

“Artists were invited to paint the canvas seats – each chair is an original work of art. They will be sold by silent auction, closing at noon on Sunday (November 14),” said Thompson.

The Yards of Arts festival is open to the public on:

– November 12 from 18:00 to 20:00

– November 13 and 14 from 09:00 to 17:00.

Where: Victoria Yards, 16 Viljoen Street, Lorentzville, Johannesburg.
