Sadag launch support group for panic and anxiety

SANDTON – The support group will take place on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 19:00 to 20:15 via Skype.

South Africa Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) has launched a free mental health support group for panic and anxiety.

The support group aim to provide a safe space for people living with mental illness to connect, learn and share their experience with others who have been through similar experiences.

According to support group leader Melissa, levels of stress and uncertainty have risen exponentially and to cope with it, individuals need to take care of their mental health.

“Support groups are safe spaces, where we can feel heard and understood, and where we can help others to feel heard and understood as well,” she said.

The majority of Sadag support groups are run by patients and/or ex-patients who have first-hand experience of mental illness.

These groups allow members the opportunity to form connections with others experiencing similar troubles and to learn from one another in a non-judgmental, confidential atmosphere.

The support group will take place on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 19:00 to 20:15 via Skype.

To attend the mental health support group for panic and anxiety, call support group leader Melissa on 079 698 6141.
