SANDTON – Stolen items that were recovered by the police officers, were valued at around R304 000.

Station Commander of Sandton police Brigadier Egen Moodley praises law enforcers for a job well done during the weekend as police officers caught numerous criminals in different locations.

Two unrelated criminal activities, which occurred on August 14, led to a total of five arrests within a matter of minutes after the suspects fled the scene. The first incident occurred on Aston Road, located in Lone Hill at about 18:30.

The two suspects driving a silver Toyota rear-ended a vehicle that was stationed in front of a gate. The victim stepped out of his vehicle to evaluate the damage, but to his surprise, he came across two individuals who demanded his watch and cellphones.

One of the suspects was carrying a firearm during the altercation, which led the victim to hand the items to the suspects. Intel from a security officer, who was patrolling the area at that time, resulted in the arrest of the two suspects. Stolen items that were recovered by the law enforcers, were valued at around R304 000.

The suspects, known to be members of the notorious Rolex Gang, were charged with possession of stolen property, firearm and also charged for armed robbery. A second incident occurred in Edenburg, where three suspects in a silver Renault Clio snatched a victim’s phone.

The victim reported the incident to police officers who were patrolling the area. A chase between the officers and suspects reached its conclusion when the suspects lost control of their vehicle. All three suspects were apprehended and charged. Sandton police urge all individuals to report any suspicious behaviour in their area in order to prevent criminal behaviour.
