Bryanston golfer joins provincial team

BRYANSTON – The young golfer hopes to one day give back to the club that supported him on his way to the top.

Bryanston Country Club’s very own Jaden Deltel is preparing to join the provincial leagues.

The young golfer has been selected to join this year’s Central Gauteng Golf Union Premier IPT team which will go head to head with the country’s best in the Premier Interprovincial Tournament in September.

After only starting his golfing journey at the age of nine, Jaden feels both honoured and proud to be given this tremendous opportunity. “At just 16 years of age, I am the youngest in the squad and I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity.”

He added that becoming a professional golfer was really all he wanted to do with his life.

“My love for the game really started when I saw Tiger Woods on TV playing an incredible shot before going on to win the tournament. “My dad had recorded the round and I must have watched that one amazing shot more than 50 times,” he said.

With preparations for the tournament fully underway, Jaden continues to not only work on his golf game but also his mind and body. “I strive to be the best golfer that I can be.

“My entire being is focused on making golf my career within the professional ranks in a few years’ time and it is the same focus that I will take into the tournament against much older and more experienced players. I will be ready and I will be accepting of the challenge.”

Jaden added that the support from his family and friends had been amazing, crediting his perseverance and motivation to his support system.

“They gave up their lives in Seychelles for me to chase my dream and they support me far beyond what words can express. My father is permanently by my side, helping me, encouraging me and pushing me to reach for the stars, and my mum and sister make sure I’m well taken care of at home.”

The support that Jaden received and continues to get from Bryanston Country Club has also been a great help and comfort to him.

“Bryanston [Country Club] has a wonderful junior programme in place which supports junior golfers tremendously by offering super membership packages, free golf lessons and continuous junior competitions. I won the Bryanston Junior Club Champs in 2020 and I’m very proud of that achievement and I’m also proud to represent such a great club.”
