Bryanston hockey stronger than ever

BRYANSTON – The goal for the hockey teams this year is to keep the blue flame burning and represent the school with pride.

Bryanston High School’s first hockey teams are ready to dominate the season.

The dynamic boys’ and girls’ teams have been hard at work since during the lockdown and kept fit while at home over the school break. “[They] kept fit while at home using different methods such as downloading fitness apps and simply doing skill work in the comfort of their home spaces,” said head coach for the boys’ team and hockey administrator Laurenzo Thomson.

Thomson started his coaching journey with the motto ‘Know the way, go the way, and show the way’. “This is simply to start a hockey journey with a positive mindset and teaching great sportsmanship. Victory starts with learning and hockey is the winner and we are the ambassadors.”

He added that working alongside first girls’ team coach Jordynne Peach, the goal for the hockey teams this year is to keep the blue flame burning and represent the school with pride.

“I would like to prepare our hockey athletes for trials and simply allow each and every player an equal opportunity to showcase their talent and just enjoy the worthwhile experience.”

Leading the hockey teams this year will be newly elected boys’ captain Mandisa Hendile and girls’ captain Jenna Farmer.
