Rotary Sandton hosts a successful poetry day

SANDTON – The winner of the Grade 8 to 11 category was Charlotte Snyckers from Redhill School and the winner of the Grade 4 to 7 category was Brent Tayengwa from Rivonia Primary School.

Sandton’s very own schools put their best foot forward for the Rotary Club of Sandton’s annual poetry competition.

Learners of various schools in the community submitted an array of interesting ideas and opinions.

These included climate change and environmental degradation, racism and human relations, and many Covid-19 related experiences such as the death of a friend or a family member, the longing hugs from grandparents and the challenges of homeschooling.

“Our children are well aware of the challenges faced by our own country, our continent and the world at large. It would seem humanity will be in good hands in the future,” said Rotary’s Val Thompson.
