Hospital staff thanked

SUNNINGHILL – We had such an amazing experience at Sunninghill Hospital writes Chaya Fenwich.

Founder of the *Juno Aurora Haven in Kelvin, Chaya Fenwich writes:

We had such an amazing experience at Sunninghill Hospital. All the staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and caring. By the time we left, everyone knew Naledi – from the cleaning staff to nurses from just about every other ward.

She was treated like royalty in the CTICU [cardiac intensive care unit], as I was only allowed to see her for an hour a day. I phoned the CTICU every two hours, day and night. Not once did they get annoyed, they were beyond professional and friendly.

Pieter Louw [hospital manager at Netcare Sunninghill] and Clare Pimenta [HR manager] visited Naledi daily, bought her gifts and checked in with me daily. The surgeons, Dr Schurmann and Dr Naidoo, her pediatric cardiologist Dr Sinyangwe and their staff, and the ladies from the Maboneng Heart and Lung Institute are awesome, never tiring of answering all my questions and the care they gave Naledi was amazing.

Once Naledi was discharged, before we left, Pieter and Clare sat with her for over an hour in the coffee shop playing with her and entertaining her. It was truly a wonderful experience.

*Four-year-old Naledi from Juno Aurora Haven in Kelvin received life-saving heart surgery recently at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital. When she was very young, her paediatrician detected a heart murmur and she was later diagnosed with a heart defect that presented itself as a growth on the left aorta. Her cardiologist has been pleased with the outcome of her surgery.
