The King’s College and Preparatory School is ready for 2021

BRYANSTON– The King's College and Preparatory School in Bryanston is excited about their plans for 2021.

The King’s College matric group celebrated a passionate and emotional valediction last year. Principal Calla Raats.

said that leaving a legacy is important for these matrics and the matrics who will come after them.

Each matric learner rang a bell from a shipwreck as they exited the auditorium, signaling freedom and to remind everyone about their contribution to the school.

“As that distinctive sound reverberated through the campus, accompanied by cheer and applause, it served as a reminder to every King’s pupil that we must keep the fire burning, a flame that burns so passionately for the school. What a beautiful tradition!”

On the sports field siblings, Tessa and Matthew Pretorius have been setting the sports arena on fire with their exploits at the club level.

Raats added that they are also very excited about all their upcoming sports activities in 2021.

“We will be introducing the U13A cricket tour on mid-February, first-team hockey tour in April and launching our 5-a-side soccer tournament in March, just to name a few.”

On the cultural side, upcoming actress Micah Postman also showed what she’s made of in the school production earlier this year.

The grade 1 learners enjoyed some creative time during the lockdown learning some DIY projects and the matrics dressing up funky for the last few days of their schooling career.

Academically, top learner Sibusisiwe Hlabangana was named the 2020 Dux Scholar for her overall stunning performance.

“With a lot of new and exciting activities coming, we look forward to celebrating all of this and the achievements in 2021.”

With tradition being a key feature in the school, Raats would like to preserve the school’s longstanding traditions.

“Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”
