Reach For A Dream goes virtual

SANDTON – The virtual experience is specifically designed to be utilised for dreamers-in-waiting in hospitals.

The Reach for a Dream Foundation continues to go over and above for its dreamers.

The foundation has announced the introduction of virtual reality (VR) experiences for its dreamers whose dreams were greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to marketing manager Roxanne Manuel, this unprecedented time has forced the foundation to adapt to a ‘new normal’. With the help of VR solutions company Edena, dreamers will be able to experience their unique dreamers all while keeping human touch and interaction to a bare minimum.

Head of business Natalie Lazaris affirms that this is not to replace the actual dream. “Through virtual reality the boundaries are bridged and children in isolation will be able to immerse themselves in a world that allows for escapism, creativity and freedom.”

“[This will make] otherwise impossible experiences come true with the power of VR and at the same time ensuring the safety of our dreamers, and ultimately enabling our dream children to dream,” added Lazaris.

The virtual experience is specifically designed to be utilised for dreamers-in-waiting in hospitals. The dream experience itself could be anything from swimming with dolphins, riding a mountain bike, visiting Disney World or seeing the Eiffel Tower.

“Thanks to our first project donor, Ilex South Africa, the foundation was able to develop an initial prototype. In addition, Go Pro, Habitat XR and The Dolphin Swim Club also either donated or licensed their content at a significantly lower rate,” concluded Lazaris.

The foundation is inviting content providers and sponsors who are willing to invest in this project, to get in touch by contacting Natalie Lazaris on natalie@reachforadream.org.za.
