Bramley police arrested a man for being in possession of a hijacked motor vehicle in Wynberg.

According to Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, a team of officers were conducting vehicle checks when they arrested the suspect.

“It is alleged that the suspect, a 26-year-old male, was driving a grey Audi when the police stopped him. The police checked the vehicle and it [was discovered] to have been hijacked during the month of September 2020,” said Mogodi.

The suspect was unable to provide police with information on who the vehicle belonged to, and it was found out that the vehicle was sought by Primrose police. “The suspect is detained at Bramley Police Station and shall appear in court soon,” said Mogodi.

Also in the Bramley policing precinct, a patrol team detained two suspects in possession of alleged stolen property. The two were seen walking along 9th street before they were stopped and searched.

“One of them was found having in his possession 10 packets of cutlery with 16 sets in each. It is alleged that the two suspects told the police that they stole the goods from a store in the area,” said Mogodi.

Officers visited the store and it was confirmed that the goods were indeed stolen from them.

The suspects are set to appear in court.

Bramley police encouraged the community to report any crime to 011 445 4100 or 08600 10111.
