Two suspects arrested in Douglasdale

DOUGLASDALE – Douglasdale police are investigating a case of possession of suspected stolen property and common robbery after two suspects were arrested on 20 October.

Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson of the Douglasdale Police Station explained that police members were patrolling the area when they received a tip-off to look out for a silver Volkswagen Polo. It was suspected that the car was used when an adult male was robbed of his cell phone near Kingfisher Drive and Alexandra Avenue.

Tshetlhane said that the suspects’ vehicle lost control on the corner of Alexander Avenue and Douglas Drive and crashed on the pavement. “The police and security managed to corner and arrest the suspects. An identity card and four cell phone, one that belonged to the victim, were recovered,” she said.

“The preliminary police investigation also revealed that the suspects’ registration numbers were cloned and that the suspects are also linked to another case in Pretoria. The police will also look into whether the suspects are linked to other crimes.”

The suspects appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 22 October and are expected to appear in court again on 29 October.

Douglasdale Station Commander, Brigadier Veeshani Arikum applauded the quick response of the members and other role players for their commitment to ensuring that the people of Douglasdale are safe.
