Sandton community continues to open its heart

Every week, without fail, the community has continued to out-donate her expectations.

Sandton residents have continued to open their hearts to the community at large.

Every Thursday, since the beginning of lockdown, the Wendywood and Morningside Manor Community Action Network (Can) has made donations to over eight beneficiary organisations in Alexandra and the Sandton surrounding areas.

According to one of the network’s coordinators Sharon Lefkowitz, this has amounted to supporting 1 000 children, over 500 adults and elderly with food, clothing, blankets and educational books.

On 10 September the Pro Labore Dei charitable organisation, managed by Nombulelo Majola and supported by Nomsa Ncube, received the recent round of donations. “The organisation cares for an estimated 60 children, 40 elderly and 50 adults in Alexandra who live in poor hygienic conditions,” said Lefkowitz. The donations include a variety of food, clothing and toys.

She added that every week, without fail, the community has continued to out-donate her expectations. “[I am] totally amazed at the ongoing generosity and kindness of our community which has extended to include Woodmead, Sunningill and Paulshof and beyond.”

Anyone interested in making a donation or getting involved can contact Sharon Lefkowitz on 082 553 1708.
