Soccer training in transition

BRYANSTON – Local soccer club keeps things moving with training videos and challenges.

An online training programme is helping Transition Football members stay active, fit and strong during the lockdown level 4.

The Bryanston outfit sends three interactive videos per week which include a warm up, conditioning, technical drills and challenges which get parents involved too.

In one video on the club’s Facebook page, U13 academy captain Olaf Rombouts does kick-ups for 30 seconds before doing ladder runs in his garden.

“Lockdown has been frustrating for us as the West Ham United Foundation were set to arrive late March for a training clinic with 120 of our junior players,” said coach Claudio Lorenzani.

Furthermore, the club’s U15 team was supposed to travel to Freiburg, Germany, to train and play against clubs there.

“This has been postponed until after the lockdown. It’s sad that we can’t physically coach our players but we are so happy to be able to provide them with three sessions per week so that they can remain fit.”

We can either be really down and upset about the lockdown or we can be optimistic and continue to work hard as once things go back to normal it’s back to business.

“Basically, we do the videos in two forms – one is the form of videos on our Instagram page every day which lasts 24 hours and the other is a WeTransfer link that we send and deletes itself after a few days.”
