Man caught with hijacked vehicle

SANDTON – A suspect of motor theft was arrested last week.

A suspect in possession of a stolen motor vehicle was arrested by Sandton police. On 6 April, police members on patrol in Buccleuch made the arrest.

Spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station Captain Granville Meyer said that the man tried to flee from police members and security officers there. “The 34-year-old man was then arrested on Old Pretoria road.”

He also said that the motor vehicle was positively linked to a carjacking case that took place in the Rustenburg precinct during this month.

The suspect is currently in detention and will appear in court soon.

The Sandton Police Station appeals to residents to keep reporting criminal activities in the area by phoning the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or reporting it via the MySAPS app, where they can provide tip-offs anonymously.
