Covid-19: Get tested in the comfort of your car at Wanderers Rugby Club

ILLOVO – The test costs R1 190 and aims to flatten the curve of Covid-19 infections.

HealthInsite in partnership with Mullah Laboratories has set up a mobile Covid-19 testing facility at Wanderers Rugby Club, allowing the public to be tested in the comfort of their car.

The drive-in test costs R1 190 and takes place at the Wanderers rugby grounds adjacent to the Imperial Wanderers Cricket Stadium. The invoice will be sent one week after the test results are received, the club encourages the community to check what protocols are in place with individual medical aids.

Residents can relax in the safety of their vehicle while a simple process is followed.

First, patients will be screened according to NICD protocols to assess whether they qualify for testing. At least one of the following criteria must be met:

  • Contact with a laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 case
  • Having travelled to a high-risk country or area
  • Showing signs and symptoms of Covid-19
  • Having been referred by a doctor

Second, you will sanitise your hands and put on gloves provided by the staff. You will then complete the testing form and pay via credit card or Snapscan.

After that, a nasal or oral swab will be taken to gather a sample.

Results will be given following NICD protocols between 48 and 96 hours after the test.

The initiative is intended to compliment the extended testing programme about to be rolled out in the country by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Testing will take place between 7am and 4pm at 37 Corlett Drive, Illovo.
