Three suspects from Alexandra were arrested in Morningside after being found in possession of a knife and toy firearm in Sandton on 18 March.
According to Captain Granville Meyer from the Sandton Police Station, police members did a random search and found the items. “In order to prevent and combat crime that may threaten the safety and security of the community, vigilant police members on patrol arrested three suspects. They are also suspected of being involved in hijackings in the area.”
Follow-ups are being done to see if they are linked to other cases that happened in the Sandton policing precinct.
The suspects are currently in detention and will appear in court soon.
“We appeal to residents to keep reporting criminal activities in the area by phoning the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or reporting it via the MySAPS app, where they can provide tip-offs anonymously.”
