Minibus-taxi collision leaves one dead and one seriously injured in Sandton

SANDOWN – Two patients, both males were found to be in a critical condition following the minibus-taxi collision.

This morning, 6 March at 7.51 am, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the corner of Grayston Drive and Daisy Street in Sandown, Sandton.

A spokesperson for Netcare 911, Shawn Herbst, said reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a minibus-taxi lost control, resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and crashing head-on into a tree.

Herbst said that the Netcare 911 paramedics found two patients, both males in a critical condition.

“Advanced life support was initiated, however, the one patient’s condition deteriorated rapidly and he was sadly declared deceased on the scene. The second adult male was stabilised on the scene before being flown by the Netcare 7 helicopter ambulance to a specialist facility,” added Herbst.

All the necessary authorities were on the scene to investigate.
