Armed robbery at shopping centre in Morningside

SANDTON– A case of armed robbery was opened at Sandton Police Station.


A case of armed robbery was opened at the Sandton Police Station on 27 January.

According to Sandton Police Station spokesperson, Captain Granville Meyer, the victim alleged that he was held at gunpoint while waiting for the boom gate to open at the exit of a shopping centre in Morningside.

“Two men got out of a white VW Golf 5 and pointed firearms at him. The suspects demanded cash and jewellery from the victim.

“They then robbed him and his wife of their watches, jewellery and cash with an estimated value of R250 000,” said Meyer.

The suspects were men and both wore balaclavas during the robbery.
