Kids Haven thank you for your support

BRYANSTON – Kids Haven thanks the community for all of the support shown in 2019.

The Kids Haven Donation Centre Bryanston says thank you for 2019:

The Kids Haven Donation Centre at 300 Main Road, Bryanston would like to express our thanks for the steady stream of donations received in 2019. Every item has filled a need. Our children’s home in Benoni simply would not be able to provide quality care for 155 children here without this very practical support.

Kids Haven is grateful for the bags of clothing for every age group. We look after 155 children but do not spend any money to buy clothes because we receive everything we need through donations. We receive clothing in wonderful condition, along with toys, books and household goods. Our first priority is always to set aside what we need for the children and the home. We sell any excess goods in the Kids Haven charity shop in Benoni to raise cash for operating expenses like transport and maintenance. There are more than 30 women who buy regularly from our shop in Benoni and who onsell the goods in their own micro-businesses. Donations are making an incredible impact on so many families.

As we approach Christmas 2019 and look forward to 2020, we would like to encourage our community to keep on sharing generously with us. We are glad to receive any second-hand donations. We will gladly collect them if you call us on 011 706 7959 to make arrangements. Our centre is also open on Saturdays.

Our priority needs for 2020 continue to be:

q Clothing for teenagers, along with clothing for all sizes.

q Home-cooked meals of macaroni and similar to serve 20 children at a time.

q Grocery hampers that we can share with our community beneficiaries and our past children who now live independently.

q Toys and books that we can use in our preschool and our bridging school while selling the excess in the shop. There is a huge market for the ladies who onsell toys in our poorer communities.

q Toiletries for the children and cleaning products for our homes.

We would like to thank the children from local schools who donate meals, cakes, biscuits and clothing to earn community hours. Your volunteering has significantly improved how we celebrate birthdays and special occasions at Kids Haven. We appreciate the time and love that you put into every cake, tray of macaroni and batch of biscuits.

We would like to wish you all a wonderful festive season. Thank you for caring about our children.
