Police detectives apprehended three robbery suspects in Sandton after one of the suspects attempted to steal one of the officer’s cell phones.
According to Captain Granville Meyer of the Sandton Police Station, the detectives were enjoying a coffee at a restaurant when one of the suspects took the cell phone of one of the policemen. “[The suspect] ran outside and jumped into an awaiting motor vehicle and sped off,” he said.
Meyer added that the detectives proceeded to chase the suspected vehicle which later crashed into a pole on Rivonia Road in Morningside. “The suspects tried to flee but to no avail. The stolen cell phone was later found in the possession of one of the suspects.”
The suspects are currently in detention and will appear in court soon.
