Your freedom to speak

RIVONIA – The Hope to Heal Foundation has launched its freedom talk workshop series which is set to kick off next year.

The Hope to Heal Foundation hosted a high tea in Rivonia on 9 November to announce that it will be launching a series of freedom talk workshops next year to help educated and encourage the community to speak up about their concerns and experiences.

According to the foundation’s founder and CEO Seema Naidoo, “[The high tea will] bring to light the serious issues affecting society due to crimes of circumstances and crisis, GBV [gender-based violence], human trafficking, rape, domestic violence, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, HIV and Aids and mental health issues that are affecting society as a whole.”

To encourage support from the community, a number of societal representatives such as entertainment personality AB Pieters, Mrs Africa Thembi Monametsi and the first Miss Gay South Africa Candice Nkosi attended the event to share their testimonials. Naidoo added that these testimonials are an indication of humanity.

“Everyone can go through these experiences and it is important to talk to someone and get the necessary help,” she said.

She added that the foundation does not discriminate or deter people from getting the help they need. “Our mission is to work with everyone to ensure they live a life free from violence and abuse. We aim to provide quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing domestic violence, child abuse or any unwanted circumstances.”
