Illovo residents left frustrated after second power outage
ILLOVO – The power outages affected residents in Hyde Park, Birdhaven and residents shared their frustrations on Twitter.
Illovo residents have been left to feel frustrated and angered after two major power outages the past two days in the area.
City Power confirmed on their Twitter page yesterday (28 October) that the Illovo West distributor was experiencing a cable fault. At that time their technicians fully restored the power nearly eight hours later. The power outage also affected Birdhaven, Hyde Park and surrounding areas.

The power seems to have gone off again, twice in two days:
@CityPowerJhb has now failed to provide power to Illovo and surrounding areas twice in the past two days. I’ve personally tried to call the contact center 7 times over the course of the past 18 hours and haven’t managed to get through. It appears that their community management

City Power said technicians have been dispatched to work on restorations.
