Suspect to appear in court for Bryanston house robbery

BRYANSTON – A 21-year old suspect is expected to appear in the Randburg magistrate court to face charges of house robbery


A 21-year-old suspect is set to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of house robbery after three suspects allegedly held the complainants at gunpoint and stole items from their house in Bryanston.

“It is alleged that on Thursday, 10 October 2019, the trio stormed into the house while the victims were asleep. They threatened them with firearms and demanded valuables from the house,” said Captain Makgowanyana Maja, communications officer for the Randburg Police Station.

He added that the complainants were tied up with rope and electrical appliances were stolen. “The police responded rapidly after the notification. One of the suspects was pointed out by the complainant in the vicinity and subsequently arrested,” Maja added.

“The detectives are continuing with an investigation in order to track [down] the remaining two suspects.The suspect is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court immediately after being formally charged,” he said.

The Acting Station Commander Colonel Solomon Mudau has applauded members for their quick response and arrest. He further encouraged members of the community to be the ears and eyes of the police by reporting any suspicious activities in their areas.

“Be more involved in the Community Policing Forum to strengthen the working relationship between the police and the community in creating a safer environment for all,” Maja said.
