Bryanston Primary School raises over R100 000 through golf day

BRYANSTON – All the funds raised from the golf day will be used to upgrade Bryanston Primary School's sports fields.


Bryanston Primary School celebrated a successful golf day at Bryanston Country Club in which the school managed to raise more than R100 000.

The fundraising golf day was hosted to help raise funds for the upgrade of the school’s sports fields. The annual golf day is seen as a great opportunity to connect with the community, establish credible and long-lasting relationships and friendships within the community while raising funds to improve facilities for children.

At the prize-giving the acting principal of the school, Morne Marx, thanked the community, sponsors and golfers for their support.

“Thank you to each and every person and company who enabled us to host another fantastic golf day in 2019 where over R100 000 was raised to upgrade our sports fields for our learners and the community that make use of our facilities for various activities.”

He gave a special thank you to the staff, parents and Sammy Tennant who helped organise the event.

A parent four-ball team which included Luyanda Ndeya, Shepard Mlambo, Bongani Godlwana and Raphael Nyagani won the competition with 105 points. In a tie for second with 93 points were Eric Oelofse, Gideon van Niekerk, JP Pieterse, and Domenic Maguire of Mitakyo ICT Solutions and Wayne Evans, Brandon Stewart, Andrew Uglietti and Dave Gregor representing Itec.

The prize for the longest drive went to Henco Voster of Bryanston High School and novelty prizes for nearest to the pin on the short holes went to Steve van der Merwe and Adriaan Sobbelaas.

MSC Sports facilitated the evening auction with Justin Sher auctioning signed merchandise from various sports stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah. All proceeds from the auction were kindly donated to the school by Darren Scott for the learner’s sports fields.
