JSE empowers women to invest in their future

SANDTON – The second annual She Invests conference aimed to give women practical advice about investing.

In celebration of Women’s Month, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) hosted its annual She Invests initiative to encourage more savings and investment.

The conference, hosted on 10 August, forms a part of the stock exchange’s efforts to empower, educate and support women who want to obtain financial freedom.

Zanele Morrison, the director of marketing and corporate affairs for the JSE said, “Under the theme: Let’s Invest in Each Other, we want to create a platform for women to take charge of their lives and make bold decisions.

“Women need to understand that they do not have to earn a large sum of money before they start investing, they can start small with what they currently have.”

The day-long conference hosted a range of discussions about investing in the JSE and how women can make their money work for them.

Katie Mohamed, the founder of W Suite, a platform for advocacy and action aimed at bringing women into key leadership, said that one of the most important lessons she has learned is to surround herself with people who are interested in her development.

“There are good people around us. Good people will invest in you, even if it’s not about money.”

Morrisson added that the event brings together powerful and motivational women to share their success and challenges and inspire women to start a journey to financial freedom.
